Letter in the New York Times

To the Editor:

It is appalling that after the mass murder and enslavement of black
Africans by Arab militias in Sudan, the collective response of the
international community has been to have a debate about whether a
genocide is taking place.

A far better exercise would be to ask whether we are all complicit by
standing aside and watching it happen.
